Celebrating Juneteenth with a Maker Mash-up by Sam Yancey

June 19, 2020

Sam Yancey from our Makey Makey Educator Facebook group recently shared some maker mash-up antiracism projects  that we wanted to share with you! Sam is working to amplify black lives and experiences through his maker projects. Here is a project he shared today to celebrate Juneteenth!

Junteenth is a holiday that originated in Texas. On June 19th, 1865 in Galveston, TX, federal orders were given to proclaim freedom for all slaves in Texas. This holiday is also known as Emancipation Day and Jubilee Day.

Sam also created this great project with art, music, and technology to share that  Black Lives Matter everyday!

We love seeing these projects and we'd love to feature your projects on our blog too!
