Interactive Games by students at St. John Bosco High School

April 01, 2022

Have you challenged students to build physical Makey Makey controllers to control their Scratch projects?

Mr. Corkhill students in the Computer Science Pathway have made some amazing Makey Makey controllers! (Learn more about Academic Pathways at  St. John Bosco High School)

This Reel features a project for the AP Computer Science Principle students. This is their summative project after learning how to use Scratch the first two months of the semester. Students were challenged to create an interactive game that required:

  • A high score list
  • Functions for game controls
  • A physical game board

Students worked in paired programming groups and were responsible for all materials besides the MakeyMakey. Mr. Corkhill has done this project the last three years at Bosco and was inspired by another Computer Science teacher at Mira Costa High School who does a similar project.  Wouldn't you love to be in his class?!

Other project ideas from last three years:

  • Skee Ball
  • Operation
  • Darts
  • Hunting Game
  • Hockey shootout
  • Cup Pong
  • Boxing
  • Driving Simulation
  • Frogger Style Games

We love seeing projects like this and sharing them on our blog! Tag us in your next post to be featured using the hashtag #MakeyMakey !
