New Project November: Musical Soap Bubbles by Johnny Tal

November 15, 2021
Johnny Tal (whom we've featured before in this post) shared an amazing new idea with us this week on our Facebook educator group
Johnny made musical soap bubbles! He used a very thin wire inside the straw he is blowing the bubbles through, one end of the wire is grounded when he blows through the straw and the other end of the wire is touching the bubble. So when the bubble touches each wire connected in another straw, it plays a musical note and the LED lights up.
What a cool new project November idea!
Make sure you check out his web app he created for anyone who wants to use their Makey as a musical instrument, in hopes of simplifying this work and making it more flexible. You can easily upload any sound you want for any input, or choose an instrument from the list (all playing in pentatonic scale), monitor what's being triggered, and have it all synced to 120 bpm.
