What is the workshop?

This Makey Makey intensive will blend our dynamic in-person workshop with our new online resources for teachers. Participants will learn the basics of circuits and Makey Makey with hands-on exploration, then begin to craft and code their own inventions. We will further delve into the world of invention literacy by building Scrappy Circuits! This virtual workshop will build off the basics of electronics and cardboard building, and help teachers learn how to create expressive interactive art, create cardboard instruments, craft alarms with office supplies, and even learn to make pixel art fingerpaint with Scratch Programming! Makey Makey blends the best of the maker world by sharing hands-on building techniques for the ultimate physical computing inventions.

All supplies for this course (Makey Makey and supplemental supplies) will be provided by us and shipped to you so you can learn virtually in real time with these experienced virtual educators. You will want to have some recyclables handy so you can realize the full potential of the world as your construction kit!

How much does it cost?

Infosys is graciously offering scholarships for up to 40 teachers to attend our 2 week training. This scholarship is funded by Infosys Foundation USA and is available only for public school teachers (including charter school teachers) in the United States.

When is the Workshop?

Participants must be able to attend live workshops from July 25th to Aug 4th to be considered for this scholarship. Here is the course schedule.

You are required to attend live classes from 10 am - 12 pm CST each weekday July 25-29 and to Aug 1-4th and spend approximately two hours asynchronously on daily assignments (for a total of 40 hours time commitment).

- Live class: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CST
- Asynchronous workshop time 2:00 - 4:00 pm CST (Provider holds office hours during work time)
Aug 1st - Aug 3rd
- Live class: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CST
- Asynchronous workshop time 2:00 - 4:00 pm CST (Provider holds office hours during work time)
Thursday August 4th - Graduation Day!
- Office Hours: PD Provider holds office hours from 9:00 am -12:00 pm CST
- Live: 1:00 - 2:30 PM CST Final Demonstration Day to graduate course
