The Makey Makey Certified Educator Workshop is an intensive, hands-on, 3-hour virtual class during which you’ll learn how to teach Invention Literacy, Making, and Design Thinking using the award winning Makey Makey. This workshop is designed for teachers who have experience teaching Makey Makey with students, but want to know how to further this work! 

In this one-day (3-hour) workshop you’ll learn to incorporate Makey Makey into your classroom using a number of our apps and activities beyond building a banana piano. You'll draw circuits, build pressure sensitive switches from cardboard, and discover the many ways Makey Makey can be applied to learning a wide range of subjects. Together we’ll learn best practices for teaching students how to invent with Makey Makey in and outside the classroom setting. You’ll do all of this in a supportive and energized virtual learning environment with fellow educators from all over the world. 

The purchase of this workshop ticket does not include supplies in the form of Booster Kits. It is good for registration for the workshop only. We will email you a list of materials to source on your own before the workshop!

Note: Makey Makey is not included in the workshop price. If you are an international participant and do not want supplies shipped to you at high cost, please reach out to us at education@joylabz.com and we can  subtract the price of the hardware from your order. 

This workshop is for teachers and informal educators who have experience using and teaching Makey Makey with students and want to go further on their journey with invention. If you are brand new to Makey Makey and have not taught Makey Makey with students, you will need to attend our Makey Makey 101 workshop before signing up for this Certified Educator Workshop. This prerequisite is a great way to become oriented with Makey Makey. This free Makey Makey 101 course is scheduled earlier in the same week as this paid certification workshop.

Workshop Cancellation / Transfer Terms of Service

You can cancel or reschedule your workshop ticket up to two weeks before the advertised date of the workshop. However, since we are mailing you booster kits, $50 dollars of your workshop fee is nonrefundable after you purchase a seat. If you are not able to attend the workshop at the given time, and/or you want to transfer your seat to someone else, let us know education@joylabz.com. However, transferring ownership of the included product will be the responsibility of the attendee.

Cancellations due to technical difficulties, weather, or any other unforeseen circumstances out of the control of either party will be rescheduled within a week of the advertised date. Details will be communicated through the email address connected to the ticket purchase.
