Be stoked this school year! Bring Makey Makey to your classroom.
Have you seen our new Sampler app?
In the spring of 2021, we designed and built our own Audio Sampler App because we saw the demand from the music community for a simple tool to be able to mix sounds and music with Makey Makey. Check out this full length tutorial to learn how to load sample packs, create a loop, upload or record your own sounds, and even save and export sample packs!
The sampler app is a great next step from our classic piano app to take your musical inventions to the next level. You can map different sounds to different keys, create loops ,and even record your own sounds rather than just use ours. We did a quick demo to help you get up and running with our Sampler app.
There are a number of different sampler apps out there, but we wanted to create one that would work on all computers including Chromebooks and iPads. If you are looking for other audio apps and tools check out this post about musical apps and Makey Makey.
Meet Software Dev: Murilo Polese
"Hi! My name is Murilo, I am a Brazilian technologist (or a full stack developer if you prefer). I’ve been working on the field for around 10 years but the last 5 I leveraged on my training as Physics teacher to focus on my real passion: Empowerment through playful education. I’m also interested in music, microscope and drawing machines."
Teaching with the Sampler
Since the debut in May of 2021, our sampler app has had 30,000 views! We can't wait to see how teachers incorporate Science, music, and making as we head back to school.
We've already seen teachers challenge kids during summer camp to create their own musical instruments.
Camps are done... whew. So much fun, but they were exhausting. Nice write-up here from @lbcc on the summer camps. @MidValleySTEM played a big role in offering @makeymakey, Drone Dancing, and DIY Guitar/Amplifier. https://t.co/nX2Ddu0kH8 pic.twitter.com/ZjaGRFrIWL

Just imagine, now your K-2 students record their own sound samples for interactive posters!
We'd love to share your examples of how you are using our new sampler app! Tag us on Youtube and we'll add you to our Sampler Playlist.
@SelmaSchools scholars are creating and coding a digital piano with @makeymakey! Watch our scholars express themselves through music! Today we practice, tomorrow the performance! Stay tuned! #MakingLearningIrresistible! https://t.co/wPvQ0Ox8wZ pic.twitter.com/S8OaHZjAGc
