Get ready for your New Year's Party with our DIY Party Pack!
We've added a new musical app to our "Apps for Plug and Play" page!
All the apps on the "plug and play" page require no coding, so they are perfect for testing Makey Makey invention ideas, or focusing on playing with sound and testing out everyday things for conductivity.
Check out and bookmark the Makey Makey Midi Player!
This awesome midi app was created by Makey Makey Ambassador Liam Baum (aka MrBombMusic.) He built this Glitch app with p5.js & Soundfont-Player. Plug in your Makey Makey, and choose an instrument from the dropdown list to begin playing a full scale with the instrument of your choice! (Note: you will need to remap a few pins on the back of the board for keys h and j, but it is worth remapping a Makey Makey to have a full scale for 127 different MIDI sounds!
Mister Bomb (Liam Baum) has a ton of great ideas on making music with Makey Makey and coding with p5.js. Come back soon to see more about his work in our next Featured Educator post!
Maybe you're wondering, just what is MIDI?
MIDI is actually an acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. This term is used to describe a variety of electrical devices that allow you to connect digital music to other electronic musical instruments or computers. DJs and musicians use MIDI devices as a way to share music they've created in speciality software like GarageBand, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro X, SoundPlant, and more!
